The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding production facilities overseas, and was doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. You would expect a group with a name like Asia to be a prog rock group however it's actually a relatively straightforward rock band. The album was a major blockbuster, but it was not without its share of problems. After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to decline. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career. The band was dominated by drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in the aftermath of drug-related charges. However, the group continued to perform as a trio, which included Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.
Despite the turmoil, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation that was not as successful as IV. The band managed to release a chart-topping album, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was the first album to feature a new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet arrangement of the previous albums. It was a more powerful, consistent effort with an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. The more edgy sound of the album reflected the maturation of the group, with drummer Bobby Kimball's greater proficiency on the drums, as well as a more mature, confident vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's keyboard playing was as well more refined, more precise and less akin to previous recordings.
After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live performance in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs titled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was busy with Yes at the time), eventually became known as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The group also featured a special guest appearance from singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
